Meet the Staff of MBC

Kristen Schreck-Many, M.Ed.

Director of Administration

Kristen comes with almost 20 years of various teaching and therapeutic experiences delivering ABA, educational, and academic services to learners throughout Long Island. In the last decade, she has led a variety of departments in the field of Autism and Intellectual Disabilities. She was responsible for heading up the insurance and educationally-based related service programs, as well as managed care. Kristen has received a BA in Psychology from St. John’s University, a Master’s in Education from American InterContinental University, and an advanced certificate from University of North Texas in Applied Behavior Analysis.

Joan Bernstein, MA, CCC/SLP

Director of Operations

Joan has spent over 30 years in the field of Special Education, both as a Speech Language Pathologist and as an Administrator. Joan has worked as the clinical director of a multi-site special education program and as the Program Director of a Special Education Preschool in Brooklyn. Joan has expertise working with children with a wide range of developmental delays and enjoys working with and supporting students with special needs and their families.

Jon Bakalar, MA, BCBA, LBA-NYS

Director of Education

Jon has been in the field, utilizing the methods of ABA for over 15 years. He started at MCC in 2009 as an ABA instructor and worked his way up to head instructor and then lead teacher. He moved over to MBC in 2017 as the comprehensive program supervisor and is now the Director of Education. He has his bachelor’s in Psychology form the University of Massachusetts, master’s is in Early Childhood Special Education from Hunter College and has a BCBA and LBA-NY.

I absolutely love working with the staff at MBC. Everyone here is looking to better the lives of their clients and advance their own knowledge in the field. MBC is truly and environment where one can grow and learn, and I love being part of that process.

Megan Dennehy, M.Ed., BCBA, LBA-NY

Director of Clinical Development

Megan has been working in the field of special education since 2006 and joined MBC in the fall of 2017. She received her BS degree in Psychology from James Madison University followed by her Master of Education with ABA certificate from George Mason University. She has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst since 2014 and has enjoyed growing and evolving with the field of ABA. She is especially passionate about training and mentoring staff to become compassionate, skilled therapists and future BCBAs.

I love seeing how incredibly invested the staff are in their clients’ progress, and how much they genuinely enjoy teaching them.

Amy (Mason) Camerlengo , MSEd., BCBA, LBA-NY

Senior Program Supervisor

Amy has been in field of special education for 15 years. In that time, she has worked in a variety of settings to provide ABA services that are effective, functional and lasting. She believes that collaborative relationships with families are key to students’ success and strives to connect and build trusting relationships with families. She has her master’s in early childhood general and special education as well as an advanced certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis from Hunter College. She is a BCBA-LBA and holds a professional teaching certificate in early childhood education and students with disabilities. She has been working at MBC since 2014 and has progressed professionally from a Case Manager to a Senior Program Supervisor. She has enjoyed being a part of MBC’s growth over the years and looks forward to its continued development.

Our team is supportive, encouraging and collaborative. Everyone shares the same goal to provide the best services to our students and their families and we work together to achieve that!

Jessica Fuller M.Ed, BCBA, LBA-NY

Program Supervisor

Jessy has been with the organization for 10 years, with over six of those at MBC. She worked as a therapist in the classroom at MCC before beginning her career as a BCBA at MBC. She earned her master’s in ABA from Queen’s College and is also a Licensed Behavior Analyst in New York. She has a wide range of experience and has provided services in the classroom, in centers, in the community and in clients’ homes. She is passionate about teaching functional skills that will help individuals gain independence in their everyday lives. She also loves guiding staff as they learn new skills and apply them to make huge differences in their student’s lives.

Kristen Marino , M.Ed, BCBA, LBA-NY

Program Supervisor

Kristen has almost 10 years of experience in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis across school, clinic, and home-based settings. She began her career as an ABA therapist during undergrad where she received a BA in Psychology from George Mason University. Kristen went on to gain her Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction (ABA) from Arizona State University and received her Board Certification (BCBA) in Spring of 2017. Throughout her career, Kristen has provided direct service to clients across Long Island and Manhattan, supervision to aspiring BCBAs, parent training, and has provided classroom management techniques.

Favorite Thing About MBC

I love the open communication between staff and parents, as well as amongst related service and ABA staff. Being able to check in with everyone helps create the most functional treatment plans for our clients.

Chelsea Amatucci, M.A., CCC-SLP, BCBA, LBA, TSSLD

Speech and Language Supervisor

Chelsea has been working with individuals with Autism as a licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for the past 10 years. As an enthusiastic and life-long learner, Chelsea became a Board Certified and Licensed Behavior Analyst (BCBA/LBA) while working as an SLP, making her one of approximately 430 SLP-BCBA’s in the world. This unique dual certification allows her to draw knowledge from both fields to best serve those she works with. Helping complex communicators be heard and supporting their families is Chelsea’s absolute passion. She strives to embrace each learner as a unique individual and create relationships with students and their families that are founded in trust and compassion.

I love working in an environment that encourages open-mindedness and growth. Every day at MBC gives me a chance to learn something new from my colleagues and students.
