Occupational Therapy

Here at MBC, occupational therapy services are provided in 30-, 45- or 60-minute intervals depending on the client’s needs. Our occupational therapists treat clients with an autism spectrum disorder and other related disabilities. Each therapist is highly trained in fine and gross motor development, sensory integration (regulation and desensitization across different sensory systems), visual motor integration and functional self-help skills and activities of daily living to make each program unique. Among other treatment protocols we utilize Therapeutic Listening, Astronaut Training, Rhythmic Movement Training, Handwriting without Tears, the Alert Program and Zones of Regulation. Our sessions are data driven and monitored daily.

Physical Therapy

Here at MBC, physical therapy services are provided in 30-, 45- or 60-minute intervals depending on the client’s needs. Our physical therapists treat clients with autism spectrum disorder and other related disabilities including medically fragile children. Each therapist has over 20 years of experience in treating children with orthopedic and neuromuscular impairments as well as genetic disorders. Our PTs are highly trained at increasing gross motor skills. We focus on improving movement, posture, balance, strength, range of motion, coordination, and safety. In addition, our PT staff are highly trained in orthotic, and equipment needs. Our PTs collaborate with other related service and ABA staff members and families to optimize outcomes of the children we service. Our sessions are data driven and monitored daily.

Speech/Language Therapy

Here at MBC, speech and language therapy services are provided in 30, 45 or 60 minute intervals depending on your child’s needs. Our speech-language pathologists (SLP) are highly trained in the assessment and treatment of children presenting with deficits in receptive, expressive and pragmatic language as well as motor speech and speech sound disorders.  Additionally, our SLP’s have experience and knowledge programming and implementing various forms of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), which include low-tech and high-tech devices.

Therapy sessions are data driven and evidence-based techniques are utilized.  We firmly believe in making therapy a fun, dynamic learning experience for children by incorporating diverse tools, materials and technology within therapy sessions.  Our SLP’s work with all staff on a child’s team and value the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration.

Each SLP holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech Hearing Association (ASHA) and New York State professional licensure, are level I PROMPT© (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) trained and proficient in the principles of Applies Behavior Analysis (ABA).
